Askham Hall is a stunning country house situated in a peaceful part of Cumbria, offering a luxurious and intimate retreat. With nineteen individually designed bedrooms, Michelin Star restaurant, an outdoor heated pool, sauna and hot tub, and beautiful Grade II listed gardens, Askham Hall is the perfect place to relax and stay.

The restaurant at Askham Hall sources its produce from the kitchen gardens, surrounding farms and woodlands, and from the family-owned Lowther Estate in Cumbria. By using local, seasonal ingredients, the menu adapts with each season to provide an excellent dining experience. By exploring the grounds, you can visit the kitchen garden, or follow the family friendly animal trails to meet the animals of Askham Hall, such as pigs, goats, ducks and chickens. The beautiful and extensive gardens include colourful terraces, ponds and meadows, with views down to the River Lowther. Askham Hall is the perfect destination for your peaceful retreat.

Also part of the esteemed Askham Collection, The Queen’s Head is a cosy 17th century village pub with bedrooms ideally located in the pretty village of Askham in the Lake District. Sister establishment of Askham Hall and just a short walk away.

Lovingly renovated to the Askham Hall standard by the Lowther family, discover seasonal ‘super-posh’ pub food made with produce reared, foraged and grown on our farms, hedgerows and kitchen gardens. Think earthy truffle with creamy artichoke; deep-flavoured seasonal game and home-reared saddleback pork; hand-dived scallops and local lobster; brassicas, herby pestos, berries and orchard fruits.

Make the most of the location with an invigorating walk on the local fells, or a more gently stroll along the river Lowther right from the door, with no need to drive anywhere during your stay. Back at the pub enjoy a local pint by the copper topped bar before a refined yet hearty dinner. The regularly-changing menu is matched by a wonderful selection of wines courtesy of the sommeliers from our Michelin-starred sister hotel, Askham Hall. Make the most of this special relationship and eat at both places during your stay.

In the kitchen is Gareth Webster, an exceptional talent who led the award-winning team at the George and Dragon, Clifton for 3 years for the Lowther family and prior to that worked with Simon Rogan.
